The WE BUILD Consortium is a European project comprising 180 organisations working together to develop the EU Digital Identity Wallet for business and payment use cases. The initiative is testing 13 defined scenarios to establish a secure, interoperable digital identity infrastructure across 30 countries.

The two-day event at the Mastercard Europe office in Waterloo focused on making wallet-native payments a scalable, interoperable commodity across Europe. Technical sessions dived into execution scenarios B1 (SCA Attestation) and B2 (Digital Payment Credential Attestation) to refine real-world digital wallet performance. The consortium emphasised aligning global standards across EMVCo, FIDO Alliance, and ARF to ensure secure, high-trust financial interactions.

Workshop on delivering a stronger card-based payments experience with SCA (Strong Customer Authorisation) and digital credential attestations using the EUDI Wallet.

This workshop marks a clear shift from theoretical EU Digital Identity Wallet compliance toward scalable, production-grade implementation for the European market. By moving beyond conceptual frameworks, the consortium is demonstrating that wallet-native payments can operate as a high-performance, interoperable commodity at scale.

Lal Chandran, CTO and co-founder of iGrant.io, joined industry peers to share production-tested EUDI and Business Wallet payment workflows, first proven during the EWC Large-Scale Pilots. Developed in partnership with Visa, Worldline, Banca Transilvania, and the University of the Aegean, these workflows demonstrate a fully operational digital identity infrastructure.
