Stockholm, Monday 6 May 2019: LCubed AB, together with the Boden Business Park and Boden Business Agency, is organising the second edition of the Arctic Chain Hackathon in Boden, in the far north of Sweden, from 7-9 May.

In search of the best programming solutions and business ideas, the organisers are inviting creative people to compete in the development of blockchain technology in the context of the GDPR and consent management. Either alone or in a team, competitors will be challenged to implement an application on LCubed AB’s iGrant.io platform that uses citizens’ preferences or consents to bring about a social change – referred to as ‘enabling democracy’.

For LCubed AB co-founder, Lotta Lundin, the social dimension of the hackathon is as important as the technology challenge, giving as an example the need to ensure the rights of children to privacy when being photographed or filmed, particularly in a public environment. Likely scenarios would involve not only the children themselves, but also their parent or guardians, as well as their school teachers. The aim would be to ensure that all data is used, stored and exchanged with the appropriate level of consent depending on the context and the age of the child.

The competitor who comes up with what is judged to be the most successful real case application or business idea will win SEK 50,000.
